Our story

Fashion should be fun,
not fast.

Swap Don't Shop was born from a simple idea: the most sustainable item of clothing is the one that already exists. We run free community clothing swaps where you bring what you no longer love and leave with something that sparks joy again.

Founded by four friends — Kiri, Katie, Nat, and Jess — who wanted to make sustainable fashion genuinely accessible, not just aspirational.

Everything you need to know

Do I need a ticket?

Yes — tickets are free but required so we can manage numbers and make sure everyone has the best experience. Book yours through WeGotTickets before the event.

What can I bring to donate?

Clean, wearable clothes in good condition — from any brand, any era, any style. Items should be freshly washed and free from major damage or staining.

What sizes are welcome?

All sizes! Our swaps are fully inclusive. Whether you're a size 6 or a size 26, there will be something for you on the rails.

How many items can I take?

It's a one-for-one swap — for every item you donate, you can take one item home. Bring more, take more!

Is there any cost involved?

Entry is completely free. No hidden charges, no membership. Just a love of clothes and a commitment to swapping over shopping.

What happens to clothes that aren't taken?

Any unclaimed items are donated to local charities and textile recycling organisations so that absolutely nothing goes to waste.
